This historic, beautiful pitcher is one of Stanwood’s earliest works. We know it was hand crafted by H. Stanwood between 1850 and 1865 before Shreeve became his partner. Coin silver was most commonly used for tableware until the end of the civil war when US currency was standardized. The small pitcher measures approximately 4 inches tall and 3 ½ inches in diameter (not including the handle and spout). It weighs 6.7 ounces. The pitcher is engraved with three initials and has been in the family for more than two hundred years. Family lore claims it’s one of the first examples of New England Repousse.
