This is a stunning limited-edition. 1oz Silver Proof Spherical coin representing’Mars’. Packaging features an image of the Mars Rover. Specialist minting and colouring techniques have been used to create the shape, along with detailed high relief profile to ensure that this iconic planet is brought to life. The mysterious’Red Planet’, presented as this spherical coin, is struck in a full ounce of highly pure 99.9% fine silver. The planet’s unmistakable red-orange (iron oxide) hue was achieved through an antiqued finish with spray colouring. The antiqued finish gives this coin an appearance of Mars as if you were viewing it in space. To achieve this effect, the spherical shape was cast and polished manually. The antiqued finish was then added and then sprayed with coloring. Before the colour was completely dry, some of it was rubbed away by hand so that the antiqued layer underneath shines through. The obverse of the coin presents the Coat of Arms of Barbados and the inscriptions: “BARBADOS” – the issuing country, “2021” – the year of issue, “1 Oz” – the weight of the coin, “5 DOLLARS” – the face value, “Ag999″ – the fineness of Silver. The’Barbados Coat of Arms’ was applied through a highly innovative Water Transfer Print. The beautiful coin comes in a black rectangular case and’floats’ within a protective latex film. The Certificate of Authenticity (COA) is on the back of the presentation box. There is a worldwide mintage of only 1,999 coins. Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun and the second-smallest planet in the Solar System, being larger than only Mercury.
