Rare Antique Ottoman Coin Necklace – Constantinople 1222 AH (1807 AD) Bedouin Jewelry. An exceptional, museum-quality antique necklace showcasing the authentic beauty of traditional Bedouin and Ottoman craftsmanship. This piece perfectly balances verifiable historical significance with structural integrity, making it a highly desirable collectible and a striking statement piece. Historical Context & Provenance. Minting & Date: The 9 focal coins adorning this necklace are authentically inscribed with “Struck in Constantinople 1222″, corresponding to the Islamic Hijri year 1222, or 1807 AD. The Era: This specific date firmly places the coins in the historical reign of the Ottoman Sultan Mustafa IV, adding a precise and verified pedigree to the jewelry. Provenance: Private Collection / Ownership history prior to current acquisition is unavailable. Weight: The necklace has a substantial, high-quality feel, weighing exactly 81 grams (2.86 ounces). Materials & Silver Content: As is customary with high-end antique tribal jewelry, the construction utilizes mixed metals for optimal durability. The historical coins contain a traditional percentage of antique silver, granting them a beautiful, lasting patina. The main chain and connecting links are purposefully crafted from a highly durable, antique-finished mixed alloy (brass/copper base) to safely support the heavy 81-gram weight of the pendants without stretching or breaking over time. Geometric “Star” Spacers: Positioned directly above each coin are meticulously crafted double-cone metal pendants. Culturally, this joined shape mimics a traditional geometric star-a historical symbol of balance and protection. Structurally, these act as bell caps (spacers) that distribute the weight of the coins, allowing them to sway and drape freely without rubbing against the main chain. Coral-Red Accents: The metallic elements are beautifully contrasted by vibrant coral-red spacer beads, a staple in Middle Eastern heritage jewelry meant to signify vitality and deflect negative energy. Traditional Jingles (Jalajil): Small, aged bells are integrated along the upper chain. These are designed to provide the subtle, rhythmic movement and gentle sound characteristic of authentic regional adornments. Closure: Secured with a traditional, handmade wire “S-hook” clasp, preserving the piece’s historical accuracy and original design. Item Specifics & Certification. Condition: Used / Antique (with natural patina). Grade: Ungraded (Raw Coin/Item). Original/Reproduction: Original Coins / Antique Assembly. Packaging: Loose / Without original retail packaging. The necklace proudly displays a rich, natural, unpolished patina that authenticates its age and journey. The Arabic calligraphy, minting locations, and dates on the coins remain remarkably clear, deep, and highly legible, free from destructive wear.
