&####128293; FIRST-YEAR LADY JUSTICE – ANTIQUE FINISH – ONLY 5,000 STRUCK &####128293. This coin is not. You’re looking at the scarce antique 2021 Gibraltar Lady Justice 1 oz silver coin – the first issue in Scottsdale Mint’s Lady Justice series, and the version collectors eon’t have yet ;- Not the 50,000-piece BU. This is the 5,000-mintage antique with the darkened fields and raised silver relief that make her look like she stepped off a courthouse pediment. Lady Justice on a legal-tender Gibraltar pound. Seven stars under her feet. Latin motto cut into the field: FIDES ET JUSTITIA – Faith and Justice. This is not a generic bullion round. 999 fine silver by Scottsdale Mint in Arizona. Antique finish that photographs like an old medal and still stacks like bullion. The figure isn’t standing still – she’s striding forward with the sword up. Dealers called it an “avenging angel” take on Justitia. That’s why this design stuck and the series is still running years later. Lady Justice comes from the Roman goddess Justitia. Her image has been on coinage since around 100 AD. Blindfold – justice without favor. Scales – evidence weighed, not assumed. Sword – the verdict has teeth. The seven stars at her feet are widely described as the seven municipalities of Campo de Gibraltar, the Spanish region that neighbors the Rock. The other side is Gibraltar’s full coat of arms: the Royal Arms of the United Kingdom (lion and unicorn) over Gibraltar’s castle-and-key badge. Issued while Elizabeth II was still monarch. Legal tender in Gibraltar. &####127912; WHO MADE IT – AND WHY. Struck and issued by Scottsdale Mint (Scottsdale, Arizona) for the Government of Gibraltar. No single named sculptor was published – this is a house design from Scottsdale, launched in 2021 as a new series dedicated to impartial justice in gold and silver. Why it exists: Scottsdale wanted a bullion coin with a classical allegory instead of another generic eagle or lion. They launched four products that year – 1 oz silver BU (50,000), 1 oz silver antique (5,000), 1 oz gold (1,000), and 1/10 oz gold (1,000). You have the silver antique. That’s the collector cut. Year: 2021 (first year of series). Denomination: 1 Pound legal tender. Weight: 1 troy ounce (31.1 g). Finish: Antique (darkened fields, bright devices). Mintage: 5,000 antique. Mint: Scottsdale Mint, USA. Obverse: Gibraltar coat of arms, 2021, 1 TROY OUNCE, 999 FINE SILVER, 1 POUND. Reverse: Lady Justice, JUSTICE, FIDES ET JUSTITIA, 2021, seven stars. This is real silver. Not a medal pretending to be a coin. One full ounce of. Photos are of the actual coin. Antique finish is applied at the mint – tone and contrast can vary slightly coin to coin. That’s normal for this issue. Look at the photos and judge for yourself. Packed so it doesn’t rattle or get marked in transit. &####127978; MORE IN THE SHOP. Sekhmet was one of the most powerful Egyptian deities. She was viewed as a strong and powerful goddess and was also known as a warrior goddess. The character and destiny of Sekhmet were reflected in her appearance: she was portrayed as a lion-headed woman. This is also how she is portrayed on our coin. The coin shows the goddess, ancient Egyptian writings on a golden background, and a cat, which is an important symbol in Egyptian culture. There are many myths and stories about the warrior goddess Sekhmet. She was portrayed wearing red clothes because she was very fierce and merciless. Legends say that Sekhmet herself was born out of rage when the Sun God Ra, enraged with humanity, wanted to punish people and sent the Eye of Ra to the earth. This is how Sekhmet was born. When she was on earth, she would be merciless to people and would drink their blood. This is just one part of the legend, however. Other stories say that Sekhmet was also a very merciful deity. She is also said to have had healing powers. When people treated her in a respectful manner, she would protect them against serious diseases. It is also said that she was even able to treat broken bones. This is why our coin portrays Sekhmet as a goddess and a woman. People may view her as a strong leader, a healer, or an inspirer of courage. This coin symbolises people’s wish for respectful and fair treatment, and their readiness to demonstrate the same. The coin therefore makes a perfect gift for a person who is fond of legends, stories, and meaningful thoughts. Selective gilding, Vintage printing, Swarovski Crystal.
