You’re looking at the scarce antique 2021 Gibraltar Lady Justice 1 oz silver coin – the first issue in Scottsdale Mint’s Lady Justice series, and the version collectors eon’t have yet ;- Not the 50,000-piece BU. This is the 5,000-mintage antique with the darkened fields and raised silver relief that make her look like she stepped off a courthouse pediment. Lady Justice on a legal-tender Gibraltar pound. Seven stars under her feet. Latin motto cut into the field: FIDES ET JUSTITIA – Faith and Justice. This is not a generic bullion round. 999 fine silver by Scottsdale Mint in Arizona. Antique finish that photographs like an old medal and still stacks like bullion. The figure isn’t standing still – she’s striding forward with the sword up. Dealers called it an “avenging angel” take on Justitia. That’s why this design stuck and the series is still running years later. Lady Justice comes from the Roman goddess Justitia. Her image has been on coinage since around 100 AD. Blindfold – justice without favor. Scales – evidence weighed, not assumed. Sword – the verdict has teeth. The seven stars at her feet are widely described as the seven municipalities of Campo de Gibraltar, the Spanish region that neighbors the Rock.
