This is a stunning example of French “Objet de Vertu” from the Belle Époque era. A fine collector’s piece that features exceptional hand-chasing and deep engraving techniques. Front Panel: Features a masterfully deep-engraved scene of a Neoclassical building set against a sunburst sky. The high contrast is achieved through the natural oxidized patina within the grooves, which highlights every architectural detail without the use of inlays. Back Panel: Elaborately decorated with chased Rococo-style scrolling flowers and foliage. Includes a central blank cartouche. Interior: Original accordion-style bellows made of sky-blue silk, with multiple compartments. Hallmarks: Stamped with two French “Swan” (Cygne) hallmarks, guaranteeing silver fineness of at least. Size: 7 cm x 5 cm x 1.5 cm. Condition: Excellent antique condition. The silver engraving remains crisp and sharp. The natural darkening in the recessed areas provides a beautiful, authentic depth.
