A super quality very rare solid sterling silver letter opener. It is hallmarked for London 1900 with the makers marks being those of A Barrett of Piccadilly London. It has been interestingly designed incorporating a Boer war era South African coin, most likely brought back by an officer. It is in superb condition being free from dings splits distortions and repairs. It measures over 8 inches (20.7cms) long by 1.75 inches wide and weighs 75 grams.
