The tradition of hanging Christmas stockings is thought to originate in the tale of a poor couple and their three daughters. Concerned by the family’s plight, Saint Nicholas climbed onto the roof of their house one night and dropped gold coins down the chimney. They fell into the sisters’ stockings, which had been left to dry by the fireside. Naturally, the family was overjoyed in the morning when they found their unexpected gold. The antiqued coin incorporates a 24-carat gold-plated Christmas stocking. Included in the surrounding artistry is a tree, wreath and garlands adorned with colored baubles and ribbons, as well as a stocking, snow globes, gift-wrapped boxes, sleepy pets, and refreshments for Santa on his busiest night of the year. Also to be found in the design is The Perth Mint’s’P’ mintmark. In stock and ready to go. The last few pictures are of the actual coin and box you will receive.
