The coin tells us about Freydís Eiríksdóttir – the daughter of a Viking legend. Freydís Eiríksdóttir was a Norse woman said to be the daughter of Erik the Red, who is associated with the Norse exploration of North America and the discovery of Vinland with his son Leif Erikson. The obverse is also very interesting, as it has an original circular motif of Nordic runes, both inside and outside of a border area, and it features the typical effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The coin is finished in an antique finish and rimless with selective gilding. It is also decorated with ultra-high relief.
